Case Study: SAI Global Property

UCD project

The task:

Objective Experience was engaged to redesign the complex eProperty system for SAI Global Property. The platform is used by conveyancers to manage documents for a property conveyance. Changing from a desktop application to a web-based platform, existing clients needed to be satisfied they would still have control of their document precedent – their key intellectual property.

The approach:

We kick started the design process with a workshop to leverage the expert knowledge of system support staff. A paper prototype showing several design concepts was developed and tested with SAI’s clients in NSW, Victoria and SA. This feedback was incorporated into the next stage of design, and a clickable prototype was developed. Another round of testing was conducted with clients remotely, allowing participation from Perth and Darwin, as well as the Eastern states.

The outcome:

The final designs had input from small, medium and large user firms. The online offline solution satisfies the user need to feel in control of their intellectual property. The developer of the system is impressed with the rigour shown in the wireframe design and specification for the complex system. The system is was released in 2012.
